Browns Bay Physio

Our physiotherapist clients had recently acquired a space inside the Browns Bay RSA Building, which was undergoing refurbishment to become a new medical centre. Our task was to create a Physiotherapy and Wellness Recovery Clinic, a space they envisaged to be ‘a little more than some cubicles and a hallway’. Due to the nature of our clients’ work, accessibility was an important consideration. With this in mind the gym and rehabilitation area is located at the centre of the clinic making it accessible and visible to both staff and clients. Aesthetically, our aim was to differentiate the clinic from the dull white and beige so often featured in medical practices. By strategically using timber and a range of bright colours we were able to inject some vibrancy into the space, making it feel warm and comforting. We were very interested in the effect that colour could have on the clinics atmosphere and how this could transpire to a patient’s attitude and encourage recovery.
